This combined bus and walking tour is an excellent way for first-time visitors to get to know Tallinn. Starting from the passenger port and major hotels, the hour-long bus trip takes visitors through the most interesting sections of the city, past the Kadriorg Palace and the Song Festival Grounds to the Pirita district, all the while providing running commentary on Estonian history and contemporary life. The 1-1,5 hour walking portion of the tour covers Old Town.
The walking tour starts at the corner of Toompea and Komandandi streets. The tour proceeds across Toompea hill, stopping at the Parliament Building, Aleksander Nevsky Cathedral, the Dome Church and the scenic overlook before heading to the narrow streets of the lower town and finally ending up on Town Hall Square. Interesting historical tidbits about the town’s development make the tour all the more worthwhile.
The tour in English and Finnish is available 365 days per year, held 2-3 times per day. Russian, Swedish and German versions of the tour are available from June to August.
PS! The 6-hour Tallinn Card does not include a free tour
