Raudsilla is located about 50 km west of Tallinn, near the village of Kolga, on the bank of Pärlijõe River and within the boundary of Lahemaa, the largest National Park in Estonia. Location is hidden to guarantee privacy.

The original cottage and surrounding area was once home to the lumberjack of the local Kolga manor. However, they have now been transformed by a master craftsman into a complex of flabbergasting structures in a blend of traditional Finno-Ugric craftsmanship and modern ingenuity.

Raudsilla is an altogether different experience and one that presents you with an opportunity to sample a different kind of Estonia. The entire complex consists of a 19th century traditional cottage, a sauna in a ‘tepee’ by the bank of Pärlijõgi (Pearl River), a grill house and terrace further along the riverbank, a ‘tepee’ smoke house, several sleeping ‘tepees’, a stage and of course, the lavatory.

The surrounding slightly undulating landscape is also some of the most interesting and magnificent in Estonia. Pärlijõgi is the only river in the Baltic States to contain freshwater pearly mussels, which one particular lord of the local Kolga Manor was known to be quite fond of collecting. There is also a Forest Brothers bunker in the vicinity, a sudden 30m high cliff edge in the middle of the forest and many, many more similarily impressive sights and locations.

TRAILS

Nature trails: These tranquil trails offer you an opportunity for some memorable adventures in the pure pine forest air. The trails are suitable for all and no special equipment is required. We will also provide some learned folk, who will guide you through the landscape discussing the local history, as well as flora and fauna as you encounter them.

Bog and marsh trails: There are still some places left in the world where you can really be at one with nature. Hara marsh is one such place and with a competent guide leading you, it is a real experience in virgin nature.

Canoe trip: This consists of a canoe trip on the Valgejõe River. Savour the magic of the natural landscape and sense of accomplishment in completing the trip!

TEAM GAMES

Fun team game: The successful completion of the game involves locating the hidden treasure by tracking 3 km with the aid of a compass and map and includes crossing a river, as well as other tasks that require excellent initiative and teamwork. Upon finishing, prizes will be awarded to those deemed worthy.

Extreme-terrain activities: Step into an adventure’s shoes and pitch yourself against the wilderness! Participants will be divided into groups, with each group receiving a map detailing the route they will take, complete with control points that have to passed through. The aim of the activity is to effectively orientate the course by passing through all of the points. Naturally, for your entertainment, the course contains several tricky obstacles that have to be overcome, but we’ll save divulging that information for now and allow you to discover them for yourself!

Archery: Archery is ideal for active individuals and for those who would like to alleviate the stress of daily life and enjoy a healthy activity surrounded by the beauty of nature. It is also a character building activity, where participants develop individual, teamwork and self-control skills.

Paintballing: All the necessary weaponry as well as helmets, masks and other protective clothing will be provided.

Boat race: This rather unconventional boat race involves the participants racing in ramshackle crafts, using whatever is at their disposal for manovering their vessel. Expect much skulduggery, wet people and all-round fun.

CONFERENCES AND MEETINGS

Raudsilla’s grill house: It has become more and more common, of late, to bring meetings out from the monotonous confines of four walls. Raudsilla’s grill house provides you with the opportunity to stage your meeting in a somewhat unorthodox setting, seated comfortably around an open fire.

Kolga Manor Seminar rooms: Raudsilla can provide a peaceful atmosphere for your conference in the form of specially equipped rooms in the old Manor Governor’s House. Rent of the Conference hall includes use of the overhead projector, projection screen, TV, VCR and flip chart. In addition, a data projector and coffee breaks can be arranged, at an additional cost.

FOOD

All food is prepared in front of you using either large outdoor frying pans, facilities in the special smoke house or on the open fire. Make your own choice:

Salmon Chowder
* Outdoor fry (chips, spicy spare ribs, vegetables in melted cheese dressing)
* Whole baked salmon à la Raudsilla
* Raudsilla’s own speciality consisting of a deboned salmon pined with wooden pegs on a special hardwood disc. The disc is placed as near to the fire as is needed to guarantee a juicy, tender and mouth-watering fish.

Lightly salted salmon with rum and honey
* Whole smoked pig or pigs’ legs in the ‘tepee’ smoke house.
* Fresh salads with a variety of dressings

Breakfast: Tea, coffee or hot chocolate with one of the following:

* Pancakes with Raudsilla’s own fruit of the forest jam
* Porridge with Raudsilla’s own fruit of the forest jam
* All the necessary supplies for sandwich making
* Pies and pastries
