The museum located at the Pärnu county in the south-western part of Estonia, 17 km's from Pärnu to north-west in Lavassaare settlement between the bogs. The museum is a full member of Fedecrail - European Federation of Museum and Tourist Railways.

Both the museum and the museum railway operate by the volunteer enthusiasts. Most of them are not railway professionals, but they've find the work at the museum as a pleasant and interesting hobby. The museum doesn't have a large membership, but this doesn't mean that there is no interest in such activity in Estonia.

There's an extraordinary possibility to make a picnic with the family or the friends with a train consists of a museum rolling stock. Special train goes on 2 km's long railway branch between the museum and Lavassaare settlement. Duration of the trip is 2 hours. All the special picnic instruments (the owen, grill coal etc) are from the museum side; the food, drink and dishes by the customer. The picnic train contains 10 people, please make reservations 7 days before.
